EUROPEAN CINEMA FESTIVAL

Lecce, from 15th to 20 April 2008

Conceived and organised by the Cultural Association “Art Promotion” it avails of the Patronage of the Municipality of Lecce, the Ministry of Fine Arts, the Apulia Regional Administration, the Province of Lecce, the Experimental Centre of Cinematography, the National Syndicate Italian Cinematographic Critics, the National Syndicate Italian Cinematographic Journalists, the FIPRESCI, the University of Lecce and is member of the European Coordination of Cinema Festivals as well as of the Italian Cinema Festival Association.

The Festival also avails of the Guarantors Commitee (members are Krzysztof Zanussi, Morando Morandini, Emidio Greco, Gianni Volpi, Gianni Massaro) whose task is to check the quality and cultural value of the event.
The selection of the participant countries aims at realising during the Festival a meeting with cultural operators, representantive of institutions coming from areas artistically different from Europe thus sharing and enhancing on a European ground the cinematographies considered at low production capacity.

This policy of the film selection is coherent with the main aim of the European Cinema Festival aiming at becoming an opportunity for all the young directors and all the new forms of expressions of European cinema with difficult access to the market. The programme will follow the same ideal route of the previous editions with the official competition and some special sections aiming at analysing specific themes or portraying important figures of the Italian and international cinematography.
