SYNOPSIS
A little teeth sent in an envelope causes two women to meet: they didin’t know at all and lived in two different towns, one in Treviso, the other in Taranto.
Elena who works in a cosmetics factory in Treviso, gets to Taranto in order to clear up the mysteries surrounding the death of Anita, an old lady she had looked after for a while, after running over her with her car. Here she meets Maria, a friend of Anita’s, who works in a supermarket, is married and has a little daughter. After some approaches based on suspicion and doubt, the two women part, also because between them there is no link. But one day Maria writes to Elena who invites her in Treviso. Here, as tied my a magic thread, the two women start to know each other better, until, pushed by little Teresa’s insistence, they realise they want to break their eveyday routine and decide to leave for the mountains. They get to Mount Bianco, where Teresa can finally hide under the snow the teeth she had come into possession with.
CRITICAL NOTES
“The story sounds a bit unlikely to be told. Soldini himself, introducing Le acrobate, talks about ‘disorder’; a respectable disorder if it has allowed the director to draw, with the effective collaboration of Licia Maglietta and Golino, two extraordinary portraits of woman. And, supported by clever director of photography Luca Bigazzi, to bring light and warmth to every image. As real cinema, obvioulsy, requires.” (Francesco Bolzoni)
