SYNOPSIS
Some years ago one of the most important publishing success has been the book Latinoamericana (Feltrinelli), a diary of his travel in Latin America with his friend Alberto Granado, a 29 years old biologist and researcher. A six months journey full of adventures, girlfriends, life experiences, crossing Argentina, Chile, Peru, Columbia and Venezuela, first on an old “Norton 500” motorbike and then hitch-hiking. The two friends returned from their travels changed by their encounter with the misery and degradation of the Latin American people, in particular after having worked in a leper colony in Peru. The book has been successful all over the world. In 2002 Walter Salles decided to bring this story to the cinema and directed The Motorcycle Diary. Gianni Minà, representing Guevara’s family and Alberto Granado, collaborated on the script and decided to direct Traveling with Che Guevara. He took the surviving member of the motorcycle trip, Alberto Granado, all through the shooting of the movie. Granado, now 81 and based in Cuba where he was called from El Comandante Che Guevara after the victory of the Cuban revolution, repeated fifty years later his fascinating journey. The idea was to chronicle Granado’s memories, interspersing them with scenes of the film and sequences filmed behind the scenes.
