BIOGRAPHY
Silvana Silvestri
Has studied philosophy, and is a cinematographic critic belonging to SNCCI (National Syndicate Italian Cinematographic Critics) and member of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Cinematographic Press). Writer of ‘Manifesto’ and ‘Alias’, she collaborates to specialised magazines and publications, compiler of Treccani encyclopaedia.
She has realised for Rai programmes on the history of cinema (Il bambino di celluloide, in six episodes, Dse) and for Cult Network a series of ten documentaries dedicated to Argentina (Gotan City, 2005).
She has taken part to the historical group founder of the cineclub “Il Politecnico”; has been artistic director of four edition of the Festival “Cinema e mezzogiorno d’Europa” that took place in Lecce in the early 80’s and recently of «Alfabeti multimediali», festival dedicated to children and consultant of Saturno Film Festival, dedicated to history . Publications: Cecoslovacchia, Polonia Ungheria, immagini di una rycinematografia, Otar Iosseliani, Kevin Costner, Lucian Pintilie. Member of ministry commissions, member of the Jury at the Festival of Mar del Plata (’98), at the Latin-American Festival in Trieste (’98), Venice (2001), ‘Grolle d’oro’ in Saint Vincent (2001). Since 1997 she is part of the commission of the Critic’s Week at Venice Film Festival.
